MLB.tv- would you recommend?
Hi vebers,
I've moved away from STL recently and am debating whether or not to bite the bullet and buy a mlb.tv subscription. I realize many of you are blacked-out, but I'd appreciate any advice out there from those with experience. Recommendations? Premium or standard? Any system requirements found to be different than those listed...specifically, is a 768kbs dsl line truly adequate for the full-features of the mosaic stream? I've heard and read of many complaints over the years, but is this year much improved?

Well
Mosaic sucks. It's hard to explain, but it's just a really crappy program. I had mosaic but ended up using the website all the time.
I bought mlb.tv last year and probably will again. Even though the picture quality isn't that great (although, they are advertising as upgrading it this year, so maybe it'll be better), it's still the only way to see Cards games all year long. If you're away from STL, t's worth the money, in my opinion.
Oh, another annoying thing

same here
The Saturday thing is really annoying though, since that is the best day of the week to watch baseball and they take it away from you.
i had the premium
But then again, I'm more of a content-over-presentation kind of guy. ymmv.
I also used it on linux and it was a bear to set up, and the hacks I did last year to make it work do not seem to work consistently this year, which is a bummer. I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually though.
Few Years
The premium does look better, but still not that great. I also had some problems with the mosaic but will give it more of a shot since I didn't use it a lot last year.
As far as Saturdays - that definitely gets annoying. The only time you can watch a game is if they happen to play after 7 pm ET which is very rare
Recommend.
I'm in Indy
And almost every marquee game you can't see on TV can be found there...its a lot of fun and a pretty good value.
I've had it for three years

Gameday Audio
If you have DSL Lite
I have a 20 inch wide screen monitor and it looks great at about 8 feet away. If you are up close, it looks a little grainy and spidery, but if you back off, it is clear. Sounds funny I know.
I have not tried the premium, because as some people have expressed here, I have also heard it is not really better.
What concerns me more about your inquiry though is the 768 KBS speed. Speeds do vary according to bandwidth and I don't think at all times you will be getting the full 768KBS. and you do need a good cushion. Go to some free movie sites and see if you can watch them without buffering. They usually stream at about 350 KBS. You can try MLBTV regular but better be prepared to step up to a higher speed DSL.
Also
I reccomend
The picture quality at 400k is not so good, but enough to enjoy the game.
GO CARDS!!!
Anyone having trouble getting
I can't access any archived games; saw a thread online claiming the problem was not universal but 'widespread' according to mlb.
