VEB Day at the Ballpark, Ver 2.0

Now that single game ticket sales are only a handful of days away, now seems like an opportune time to rehash some details for the hoped VEB Meet and Greet. The game against the Tampa Bay Sans-Devil Rays on Saturday, May the 17th was the runaway winner for the event, meaning that if my calculations are correct, Wainwright will be facing Kazmir.*

What we need to decide now is decide what all to do for the event.

Star-divide

I think the easiest way to go about this is to buy tickets individually, and just meet up before and/or after the game at a designated bar/restaurant. Once we have a decent guestimate on how many people will be attending I'll call around to the watering holes around the stadium and see who would be able to accommodate the group the best.

If anyone has a problem with this, or would like to do something different, go to hell. Just kidding; drop off what ya got in the comments below and let me know. I'm all ears (figuratively, of course).

Also, if you plan on attending please let me know if you'll be by yourself or with your husband/wife/gf/bf/some random jerk, or whatever so I have a halfway decent head count.

Cool? Cool.

*I have no idea what I am talking about.

i think it would be kind of cool to
attempt to get tickets near each other...I rarely get a chance to talk baseball with basebally inclined people...just a thought...
also...if someone needs somewhere to crash my crib is open.  It's just me and me dad in a house in Fairview Heights, Il, about 15 minutes away from the stadium.

Party Room
Would you mind checking into the price of a party room?  Also what about all of us trying to get into the same section by trying to find out what area most would want to be in and all trying to just be near there.  Also if we have a lot committed maybe the Cards can give us a group rate for the section, worth a shot calling and asking.

The problem
with doing the group thing is paying for it. It has to be fully paid up front, and, frankly, I don't feel comfortable doing that. If we all wanted to try to get seats in the same section or something like the Left Field Landing or the Coca Cola Patio that would be cool.
Juan Gonzalez actually doesn't know the meaning of the word "retirement."

Some of the All-Inclusive....
Are individually priced still.  It'd be easy to try to target a date and go after one of those All-Inclusive individually priced party rooms.  I think you have to buy in groups of 2 only, now.

Granted, I live a long way away and don't make it down that way enough to be able to go, but I have tickets for an all-inclusive area later in the summer, and they're awesome, and I would imagine it'd be pretty easy to get a group in there.

Last thought:  If you actually had enough people likely to go, you could always contact fan relations and try to get something set up.  I don't know what they'd be able/willing to arrange, but given VEB's reputation and the prospect of bringing 25+ fans into the park in a group might inspire them to arrange something for you guys.

Stub Hub already has tickets on there
for only $9. I tried the stlcardinals.com website and I guess they aren't selling tickets for that one yet.

I cannot promise I'll be there, but I'll try (funds and time permitting).

The good news is that my birthday is a mere five days before that, so maybe I can get some sort of sweet birthday game ticket/plane ticket combo present, either from my family or a general VEB "Send Mr Redbird to Busch III" fundraiser.......

Actually...
I guess I spoke too soon. As much as I'd like to go, the day before I have a huge, all-day conference, and that day is also my girlfriend's birthday. I don't think I'm gonna be able to make it happen.

However, I'd be interested to see if anyone in the Atlanta Braves fans area* would be interested in doing this for a game at Turner from July 28-31 (M-Th). If I can do it, I'll set up a diary a la this one when the time is near. It's too bad it falls during the week, but I could definitely make it.

*Of course, the Braves fans area is anywhere from Memphis east to around Raleigh, and anywhere south of there. Yes, the Braves are starting to take over Memphis, even though it's a traditional Cardinals town and home of the AAA club...

if minors are welcome
i'd love to come and i'd think it'd be cool to at least try and get seats near each other.

what about homer's landing?
tickets are $65 apiece but they include food and beer. the place can accomodate up to 80 people and tickets are sold in increments of 2.

I'll probably do something like this
I like to convince myself that I've turned a profit by consuming my weight in beer and 'chos.

Re: minors
While I'm far from it, if I make it (hopefully will) I'll be accompanied by my minor daughter so the "bar" option may be somewhat limiting.  Of course, I'm not familiar with MO law concerning minors in bars, etc.  If the place chosen also serves food, does that make it legal for under 21's?

Al's
What about the wild Hungarian's bar?  It is very close to the stadium.

As cool of an idea as this is
I will not be able to attend as I am graduating college that day!  Go Cards, nonetheless.

Congrats
Why don't you bring your receipt - er, diploma - to the game?

Just kidding...congratulations!

"Dude, we're running out of stadium" - said on the way to our seats in Section 428.

Too much
More expensive then Bank of America Club, and totally way too much for most of us I would think.  I generally think a 300-400 or bleacher section as our "preferred" location but allow people to buy tickets wherever and just meet up before/after the game.

4-H Day
That day is 4-H day at the ballpark, so most of the upper deck seats are already being sold to people within that organization (if you are looking for cheap tickets).  I just put an order for 12 tickets in, and I may have a few extras.

If you want to buy a large number of tickets all together, you may be able to contact your local 4-H Organization and see if they are placing an order/would be willing to place an order for you.  The tickets are $21 each and are generally kept in the group.  The biggest downfall is that it is a lot of family and kids, and a lot of people who don't know enough about baseball to appreciate all aspects of the game.
