St. Petersburg

For those of us lucky enough to live in Florida during any of the Redbirds' golden eras, we'll always remember St. Petersburg not just as the home of Spring Training but spring itself.

Sadly, the never-ending days will come to an end after all. A decade after the Cards left town, the game will leave altogether, leaving that beautiful ball park to become a parking lot or something. Al Lang Field was a destination for Cardinals fans for a lot of years from 1938 to 1997. Jupiter or Mars or wherever they are now just doesn't hold the same distinction.

The St. Pete Times is running some sort of series this week that might get better. The first part is a little strange, but here it is:
