I've got the MLB Network

And you don't!

Ok, that may not be true but I came home today and there it was.  It is a Hi-Def channel with the sides cut off to make it standard definition but that doesn't matter to me.

The channel isn't supposed to launch until January 1st, but my cable company added it and as I type this the 2005 World Series DVD program is playing with a crawl at the bottom that says the channel goes live on January 1st.

Even if it is just this precan'd stuff everyday until then, I don't care.  I'm like a kid on Christmas morning.  I can't look away!

who's your provider?

I have Dish Network, nothing so far… in fact, now that I look I see the NHL channel is gone. When did that happen?

Out of curiosity,

how did you discover you had the channel? I have Comcast as well (Chicago) and was wondering if I was getting it too. Probably not. I’ve scanned though a lot of the channels and checked the website, but found nothing. Anyway, I was just curious how you discovered the channel. I assume on January 1 it’ll either be obvious or I’ll get a message that tell me what channel it is.

Although, I find it odd we’d be getting this channel. We don’t get NFL Network or NHL Network since their on the Sports Tier. Do you get that as well?

Our country reeks of trees. Our yaks are really large. And they smell like rotting beef carcasses. And we have to clean up after them. And our saddle sores are the best. We proudly wear women's clothing. While searing sand blows up our skirts.

And the buzzards, they soar overhead. And poisonous snakes will devour us whole. Our bones will bleach in the sun. And we will probably go to hell. And that is our great reward. For be-ing the-uh Ro-yal Canadian Kilted Yaksmen!

Ok, from the top

About 2 weeks ago there was a legal notice that the channel would be added. I have Comcast and this past week has seen a slew of channel changes because of the death of MOJO HD.

Anyways, about 3 pm today the MLB channel came up on my TV Guide and has been there ever since.

If you have Comcast, you will be getting MLB Network. It was part of the Extra Innings deal during the big Satellite dispute. Comcast is a minority owner in the Network and will offer it to most everyone in their systems.

This channel is not on the Sports Tier. I get EVERYTHING with my cable (big bill) but my understanding is that it is supposed to be on the basic digital packages as part of the deal. Much like, in my area, the Big 10 Network is.

Yeah we get Big Ten as well with Chicago being Big Ten territory.

But, what’s this about MOJO going away? I like that channel and I’ve still got it. Although, I liked HDTV better (or whatever it used to be called).

Hmmm.

And now I just looked and MOJO is a goner. I guess it went bye bye while I was out of town for Thanksgiving. Btw, I think it was replaced by TVONE? Wtf? Hopefully it’s just holding the spot warm for MLB.

No more MOJO? Nooooooo!!

I haven’t had a chance to watch much of the Comcast this week, but it explains why they were jacking my ESPN HD’s around with the Deuce the other day, but the regulars weren’t messed with.

I hate finding cool stuff out while I’m at work. Only four more hours of giddy-ness until I’m home in the fetal position if I have it.

Dish Network

Won’t be getting it. At least that’s the impression I am under after I did extensive looking, praying to God we wouldn’t be excluded. But I believe we have been.

Apparently the SD version will go up on Charter on Dec. 12th

Channel 412

As far as I know, there isn’t a specific announced date that Charter is going to put up the HD channel, other than just “January 2009”.

Make that #4

At first I didn’t think I’d mind but now, it’s getting a tad annoying. How much more would it have cost to cue up EVERY World Series film and play them in order?

Comcast sent me a notice

saying we’d get MLB Network “on or around January 1, 2009”… it’ll be interesting to see if we get it early here. I don’t have HD, though.

I have a love/hate relationship with the Cardinals' middle relief corps.

He doesn't live in Chicago.

He’s in eastern Ohio near Pittsburgh, I think.

I also wonder if I can get it free here in Chicago… if I can, I will be ordering Comcast after the holidays are over.

From what I read from HL

And it rings a bell from the whole Extra Innings blowup last spring, Comcast actually owns part of MLB Network and worked it into the deal that they’d have it on the regular package. I’m almost certain we’ll get it.

sweet

I’ll be in touch about that after new year’s… I’ve been tossing this idea around in my head, we should organize some kind of cardinals fan in chicago area trip to st. louis for a game or two. maybe we could arrange with some fans in st. louis to stay, or even camp somewhere. regardless, I’ve gotta go see a game in busch III next season, since I haven’t been there yet.
