Godspeed Mark Mulder
I've been reading information about Mulder being 'ready' to go at the start of ST and now this from Buster Olney. Watching him try to make a go of it last year was excruciating - the 10 inning shutout against roger clemens in '05 a distant memory. I hope things work out for you Mark and I'm sorry they even asked you to take the bump when there was a 99.9 % chance you were going to fail miserably.

Mulder's Arm Slot
I think Mulder’s comments about, and focus on, his arm slot are slightly bizarre.
I don’t think he’s focused on the right thing or else he’s mistaking something more fundamental for an arm slot problem. Something is keeping him from throwing from his old arm slot (or feeling like he’s throwing from his old arm slot).
All of this tells me that his proprioceptive system is probably seriously out of whack.

I really hated
that game where he started versus the Philies. Literally watching a guy’s career end….
The Godfather himself has decided to grace us with his presence. This is his damn house. He sleeps 20 feet away.

watching him get that K….

Yep.
It just went from elation to depression in like five minutes.

I went in the other room to watch the start of the game
and as the insanity ensued, I returned to this blog and saw the whole pendulum swing. It was like everyone owning stock as it rises 30% only to crash to junk in a span of 10 minutes.

I was so psych'd
and he came out and struck out Rollins, adding to my excitement and then just like that, his arm was gone again.
I’d give him $500k to be a LOOGY, but only if he promises to pay us back the going rate each day he misses from the season.

I Was There
I was at that game.
I was hopeful until I saw the velocity of a few pitches. I kept waiting and waiting to see his FB and then I realized that I WAS seeing his FB.
Then they turned off the stadium radar gun and it was pretty much all downhill from there.
I also saw his first STL start (OD).

According to Gameday
he was throwing 90-91 on his fastball. That’s not bad for a guy with a bionic shoulder.

Sure
I don’t have a problem with Mark Mulder, he got hurt and you can’t help that. But I really hope that Billy Beane dies a horrible death one day. He had to know that there was something wrong with Mark Mulder before he traded him. Mulder himself has said that something was wrong with his shoulder before the trade. He lets his managers ride the hell out of his arms as hard as possible, when they are only 22 or 23. Then he sells them for a profit right when he knows they are about to pop. I really worry about guys like Trevor Cahill and Brett Anderson. Thet both are going to be throwing at least 3, 200 inning seasons before they are 26, count on it. Get em on your fantasy keeper team right now and dump em before they are both 27, cause after that they’re both screwed.

die a horrible death?
geesh, that is a bit harsh.
How about just a really bad case of the “runs”

watching mulder in that phillies game
brought back memories of another time with danny cox. when cox left the mound, you knew it was over. I really liked Cox too, he always gave it his all. Sad ending for both of them.

i was seriously having flashbacks of Dave Dravecky's finaly game when he took the mound
obviously it wasn’t that brutal, but it was still bad watching the guy’s career probably come to an end.

What a sad story...
w/ Dravecky. I remember seeing his injury on video later that night. I was a HS pitcher at the time and I was literally frightened to pick up a baseball for about 5 hours afterwards. A person’s arm should never do that.
