My Favorite Post of the Year

Today I'm getting a kitty-kat and it reminded me of this particular post.  I'm going to call her, Isabelle...or izzy for short.  Izzy??  Like many, I hated izzy in 06 and booed the ever loving hell out of him.  Then, like a refurbished T-100 terminator, Izzy came back in 07 and badder then ever.  Handing the ball to izzy in 07 was automatic.  Nobody had a chance with his knuckle curve.  Then we all know what happens next, Sarah Conner  crushed the ever coming Terminator.  Not only was it the end of Izzy, but a symbolic end to a entire era of Cardinals baseball.

That night when Izzy threw one of his last innings as a Carinal, the next day The Red Baron made this breath taking and touching post and kung fu'd a quote that was not only the most profound thing I've read at VEB, but almost anywhere else.

"One by one, all of our heroes have fallen; time gets us all in the end."

Here's my favorite post of the year, with an Honorary Mention for Best Supporting Comment in a touching thread by Scoot

My favorite comment of the year...by Mattybobo

"the winner of the national league is actually the champion of baseball. then there’s the american league, which plays something a lot like baseball, only the pitchers don’t have to hit, and according to official rules only teams from boston and new york are allowed to compete for the championship. then the winner of baseball (NL) and bizarro-ball play in a seven game exhibition “world series”.

*thanks for finding it

I hate to pat myself on the back...

But I claim responsibility for the comment. I know it was me because I pretty much stole the idea from my friend Brian, who makes jokes along the same lines all the time. “Did you know there’s this other sport called American League baseball where not every player has to hit? It’s very similar to actual baseball in most respects” etc. etc.
Also lending credibility to my story is the fact that my ID has “matty” in it. Thanks for the recognition!
I’m not sure when I said it though, it will take some looking.

indeed a great post

Thanks for bringing that back

I will still never understand any fan booing a player wearing a uniform of the team that support.

I usually would agree

unless the names on the back of the jersey read “Marquis” or “Tavarez”….

Maybe that’s just me.

Thank you.

I don’t really know what else to say, so I’ll just say it again.

Thank you very much.
