World Series Game 2 Open Thread

There's no thread up, and the broadcast started here in Austin, so I thought I'd throw something up.  I've mostly been super excited about this world series, and I do love this matchup of young players that have been ignored by the national media all year.

That being said, there is no player that I'd rather see get completely shelled in a big game than Brett Meyers.  Of course, it would have the added bonus of tying up the series, so that we increase our chances of gettng seven full games of quality baseball in this seven game series.

that is true

I’ve had it for 3 or 4 years and I like it a lot. There’s always some bugs through the first couple of weeks, but it’s nothing to get bent out of shape about.

One reason I like it is because my computer monitor is right next to my television in my bedroom. I can put the Cardinal game on my computer and to satisfy my short attention span I can put another game or some other show on my tv.

But, overall I’ve been pleased with mlb.tv.

i had four fantasy baseball teams this year, so i always had a few games going at once on mosaic.
cards and royals will be blacked out for you, but you should be able to get everything else. when i was living in tennessee earlier this year i had it and watched games constantly, it was great.

if a team's games are aired in your area,

you can’t watch them on mlb.tv. you can only watch “out of market” games.

one annoying thing about mlb.tv is they black out all saturday afternoon games because of fox’s coverage.

They get blacked out on Extra Innings too

That’s just one of the things about it. And honestly, most teams have wised up to it and try to start their games after 7pm Eastern time on Saturday so the National blackout rule doesn’t affect the game.

But you wanna hear some bitching about the Saturday blackout? Head over to BCB. I tried to point out that if they started their games after 6pm here in Chicago they wouldn’t have the issue, and I got the response I knew I’d get. “We CAN’T have Saturday night games at Wrigley”.

Well……who’s fault is that?

I've had a some issues with the 1.2M feed

But that’s most likely my computer.

However, I find the 800k feed to be really darn good and especially when watching a game broadcast in HD, it looks great.

Well, the smaller you leave the picture the better quality it is

But even in full screen, the 1.2M feed, especially when broadcast in HD, looks pretty darn good and their video quality has gotten better every year so I expect it to be even better next year although I wouldn’t complain if it wasn’t.

Especially since they introduced at the end of the season the ability to choose the home or away telecast. There are some broadcast teams I don’t mind and some I actually like (Arizona and Dodgers) but the majority are a pain in the ass if you aren’t a fan of that team.

It is such a shame

It’s criminal that Kirby Puckett, who was a joy to watch on the field, and who clearly just LOVED the game, had to get that eye condition while the Gary Sheffields of the world soldiered on.

First, I can't believe the best they can find is two people from the military to sing

But, nevertheless, this guy was/is better than that girl who sung last night. But not much.

At this point, I want David Archuleta back. I might not like his rendition, but he can at least sing.

Nothin'. A handful of nothin'. You stupid mullet head. He beat you with nothin'. Just like today when he kept comin' back at me......with nothin'.

Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.

I've always hated "God Bless America"

It is easily my least favorite patriotic song. It has this awful, meandering melody that never really goes anywhere. It takes a spectacular vocalist to make it sound even palatable, IMO

They say that it's never too late, but you don't get any younger...

I think we're just over exposed to it

Especially with the amount of little kid choirs that sing it…therefore we expect it to be bad. If it was sung in moderation, it might be different. But sometimes I think it gets sung more than the National Anthem.

I don't think I've seen Upton run out one ground ball yet.

That's funny.

Here’s another that’s pretty good.

Raymond vs. the A’s bullpen

And apparently they have that dancing banana show up from time to time. This guy is nuts. I laughed out loud when he headbutts the girl as he walks off the field.

and... Joe Maddon has my vote

He hopes he’s not being rude but he will not explain the squeeze play to you media pinheads.
Except in a more erudite fashion.
