Fangraphs analysis of Ellis/2B
Considering that Adam Kennedy's offensive and defensive skill set is very similar to that of Ellis, this analysis provides further support to the argument that Kennedy should be our starting 2B or at the very least have him be part of a strict platoon against RHP.

But TLR is in love with Lopez
who doesn’t appear to be a capable SS so they wish to try and hide him at 2B. Kennedy is the best defensive 2B option we have. I’d rather go Lopez at SS (flailing away) and Kennedy 2B than Izturis SS and Lopez 2B (which is where we are heading). I just can’t stomach watch Izturis getting another 400+ ABs in a Cardinal uniform.
What about Lopez/Kennedy platooning at 2B?
They say that it's never too late, but you don't get any younger...
Ellis is better
He has much more pop and he is as good if not better defensively. Furthermore if moved to a better hitting ballpark like Busch then he has the chance to hit 20 homers.
