That was a rarity - seeing Franklin AND Izzy give up late-inning runs in a tight game yesterday. While still holding on to the lead (whew), it made me realize that THIS year it's taken for granted that those guys are a lock. How much of a lock? Here's the combined line on that four-headed monster; RussTroyRyanIzzy (we need a better name, no?)

W-L  18-3   28 Saves

What about?
3 righties and an Izzy (since he's the closer, he can stick out.)

A .93 WHIP for your rh setup men and closer is pretty ridiculous over 200 innings.  They have more Ks than hits and over 2.5 Ks per BB.  AWESOME.  Keep it up!

Maybe go by their last names, and call them
SPIF. Doesn't reflect the order they pitch in, but it sounds like a word and is kind of close to a compliment....

Should the WHIP be 0.93? 1.03?

I'll give it to you...
"SPIF" is definitely better than "3 righties and an Izzy."  Good call.

Duh -
knock that WHIP down to something more manageable, like 205 baserunners in 204.1 innings. Pretty simple.

WHIP is wrong
Each one of them has a WHIP below 1 so they can't have a combined 9.03 WHIP.
Springer has a .99, Izzy a .96, Franklin a .93 and Percy a .91

141H + 54 BB = 195 BB+H
204.1 IP

that gives a 0.954 WHIP if my math is correct.

That's 205 BB+H, actually ...
which puts the WHIP over 1, unless MY math is astray, but ... number crunching aside, the performance has been as dominant as any 4-headed relief corps we've seen at Busch, eh?

Where did you get your number?
I got my numbers this morning from ESPN where did you get your 205?  141 H and <60 BB which is what I got is less then 200 BB+H, either way all 4 have WHIPs under 1 thus the 4 combined have to have a WHIP below 1.

Your assessment is good though, I wish Kinney was in there instead of Percy (love Percy but he was our Kinney replacement since we didn't really have one) just for an extra year experience.

Next year?
What about next year with these guys?  I mean lets replace Percy with Kinney, but then everybody else is back right?  I'm not saying we can't still win the divison this year, but next year we are looking to be a stronger team.
Save the Kipper don't make him go back out there.

Next year
Here is how our bullpen looks right now for next year:

CL: Izzy (8M Option)
RHP: Franklin (2.25M 08, 2.5M 09, 2.75{option} 10)
RHP: Kinney
RHP: Thompson
RHP: Wellemeyer
LHP: Flores (1M)
LHP: Johnson

Springer isn't under club control but will probably resign and if he does I expect it to be for 2M guaranteed money plus incentives (this year he had 1.75+incentives but has already reached all except postseason awards or all star game and thus has 2M guaranteed now)

(BTW Percy will probably cost about 2M before all is said and done with his incentives for this season)

Thats not bad
I mean it doesn't even cost alot, and its pretty soild.  I wouldn't mind a little help on the left side, or TJ can just start playing the way he did before.

WHIP ignores hit batters
not that it's a big deal or anything, but hit batsmen should be included as baserunners allowed...
