Lambert is PTBNL for Maroth

According to the P-D:

Lambert didn't really do a whole lot to impress this year, but he's still a former first-rounder. He's still got a shot to make the bigs, and it knocks a chink out of our depth.

I still think Maroth can make a contribution, but I'd've liked to've kept Lambert.

Lambert
That sucks as Maroth was a bust.  Any word on who the PTBNL for Joel P. is?

I'm not sure how I feel about this.....
but I have seen Lambert pitch once in AA and once in AAA--and he was dreadful both times.  He just didn't have very good stuff, but he's young enough that maybe he can turn it around.  I don't want Maroth on my team come next year, however.  Nothing personal, he seems like a nice man, but he appears to be throwing batting practice.

Dodged a big-time bullet there...
I was ready to say goodbye to Herron and watch VEB explode...
Ease LaDunketty out gently, thank him profusely, and... Hire Antonetti!!!

This is great news
It's been pretty clear for some time that Lambert is not going to make it.  If the Tigers can pull a rabbit out of their hat and make it happen, good for them.  But it also opens a spot in the rotation at AAA and allows for some of our good young pitcher to move up.  Someone will move up, if not now, at least next year, and there will be a chain reaction.

I was very happy to hear it was Lambert.

agreed
i don't quite get the sentiment towards lambert, he is a bust, totally dreadful. it was a big relief to hear he's the ptbnl.

The Face of the 2004 Draft
is now Jarret Hoffpauir.

Even if Maroth doesn't work things out, that alone is a satisfying improvement.
