Predictions...

I posted it in the game thread and I thought it'd be a fun idea to see what peoples predictions are for the remainder of the season. Rules are: make 5, first four about individuals, fifth about the team. That's it. Here were mine...

   1. Reyes will finish the year with a sub-5.00 ERA
   2. Pujols will fail to hit 35 HR's, but will finish with a .320+ BA
   3. Wainwright will finish with a sub-4.00 ERA
   4. Ankiel will hit 12 HR's, and finish with a 3/1 K/BB ratio.
   5. Cards miss the playoffs by a game.

Not too many stretches, really. Besides Ankiels K/BB ratio...

K/BB Ratio
I would be thankful as HELL if he ends with a 3/1, son.

that's why i qualified it
and said that there weren't many stretches besides that.

hmm....
  1. Rolen will hit 10+ homers and will have 62+ rbis
  2. Mark Mulder will return and will get 2+ wins
  3. Yadi will end the year batting atleast .275+
  4. Slick Rick will have a .300 avg, hit 10 homers, and have 25+ rbis
5.The Cards will make the playoffs and lose in the NLCS
23 homers 71 rbis, yeah, albert's having an off year

I'll play
  1. Wells will win 10 with an ERA under 5, and get signed to a long term deal
  2. Enc and AK will not be on the playoff roster.
  3. Famous Warrior will hit more home runs than JEd and Enc combined, and finish with an OPS over .850
  4. Reyes will finish with more wins than Springer
  5. Yankees in 6 (darn wild card teams)

I admire and applaud your optimism, sir
Re: Wells. Also, with the whole making it to the World Series thing.

eh?
Who said anything about the world series?

In retrospect, I was probably reading more into
prediction #5 than SleepyCA meant, but I took his "Yankees in 6" to mean "Yankees beat the Cards in 6."

you got it.

My 5...
  1. Pujols: .315/35/100
  2. Rolen goes on a tear the next two weeks. (I just feel it...)
  3. Yadier will have a higher OBP than Eck at the end of the year.
  4. Mulder doesn't come back until next year to the bigs, gets to AAA then shuts it down.
  5.  Cards miss the playoffs by two.  Edmonds retires, LaRussa comes back, Enc is traded, and if Izzy doesn't come back, Loop's the closer. Eck doesn't come back and Ryan starts at SS in '08.

hmm
  1.  Cardinals homerun leaders at season's end, in order:  Pujols, Duncan, Ludwick, Ankiel, Rolen.
  2.  For better or worse, Brendan Ryan earns the 2008 shortstop job.
  3.  Mark Mulder performs poorly in rehab starts and doesn't rejoin the club in 2007.
  4.  Don't think Wells is going to hit 10 wins as predicted by SleepyCA, but I predict he pitches well enough to be offered a one year deal with a option for '09.
  5.  End of season NL Central:  1.  Milwaukee, 2.  St. Louis, 3.  Chicago, 4.  Houston, 5.  Cincinnati, 6.  Pittsburgh

I'm an optomist so here goes
  1. Pujols goes crazy and finishes with 38/115 and a MVP
  2. Rick hits ten homers and starts in right the rest out
  3. Hollywood goes wild in the postseason with five homers
  4. Wainwright finishes with ERA under 3.5
  5. Cards make playoffs lose in seven to Arizona in NLCS
Side note after his amazing postseason Jimmy Baseball retires, Tony stays, and we pick up Izzys option.
Save the Kipper don't make him go back out there.

My wild 5
  1. Pujols finishes with 320/34/104
  2. Rick Ankeil Finishes 300/15/40
  3. Cards win NL Cetral by 2 games
  4. Cards beat padres, mets both in rubber game of series.
  5. Cards sweep Bosox in series. With Reyes and Wells throwing a combined 15 innings of no hit baseball
Tony and dunc leave, oquendo is manager and our payroll for next year is 114 million dollars because bill dewitt was arrested for being a tightwad and mark cuban buys the team.

I'm all for it
But in the event that your postseason predictions come through, there's no way TLR leaves.
