July 4th is the 310th consecutive day...

...that barry bonds' trainer, Greg Anderson, has served in jail for refusing to answer questions before a grand jury regarding barroid bonds use of HGH.

When barroid comes to St. Louis we should all greet him with posters asking "Where is Greg?","Free Greg", "Barroid, tell Greg to testify," "Barroid, what's Greg hiding?"

You get the gist. Add your suggestions below.

Just ignore him
don't stoop to his level. If you actually consider yourself to be part of the  "best fans in baseball", act like it.

how about.....
giving Bonds a standing ovation? Have some class and treat the man approaching 755 with some respect. You dont have to like him as a person to recongnize his on the field efforts

You also don't have to be a conspiracy theorist
to have some serious doubts about how much those numbers are artificially inflated. I'm with cardsrul - just treat it as a non-issue (and secretly hope he doesn't hit 755 or 756 here...).

I agree
Let's hope that it is a non-issue at Busch; in other words, no records broken here for you, Barry.

As I watch Bonds get ever closer to
the record, I just wonder what is going through Hank Aaron's mind.........

He's
probably a little releived that even after/if Bonds breaks his record, it won't stand for long. At least the way ARod is hitting...

You won't be able to get the signs in
search the internet to find the article, but MLB is asking stadiums to stop people from bringing signs in about Barry and the HR chase that are negative.

what a bunch of BS
the MLB is doing way too much to help the incredible hulk break the record.

by stlcardinalsfang on Jul 5, 2007 9:12 AM EDT up reply actions

That means
"Sign Guy"(you know who I'm talking about) might not be able to do his thing if he goes to any of the games.

Disgraceful
That is what time will tell about the Bud Selig era of baseball. (And not all of it is his fault, the players' union has been equally idiotic during the time frame.) AROD should be playing for the Red Sox in that crazy deal that was blocked. (I think it included Nomar and Magglio Ordonez and others in some sort of wierd 4 team thing. Bonds is a cheater and everybody knows it, yet he is allowed to keep going without even so much as a 1 game suspension. The classy Hank Aaron has had to watch his precious record slowly go down the tubes to the game's biggest cheater and is helpless to do anything about it. Watching this makes many fans sick, but baseball wants to repress our right to free speech by not allowing us to trash the man who has trashed the game. It's a shame.
How about handin' me another helpin' of those mashed taters...thank you very much!

Bonds
In all truth, I don't really care about the steroids thing. It happened, and unless we want to throw out almost my entire lifetime of baseball, people just need to get over it.

That being said, I boo people who are jerks. Barry Bonds is a jerk.

Tax evasion, perhury, adultery, leaving MLBPA's licensing deal, fighting Jeff Kent in the dugout, playing the race card.....go ahead and boo him.

The question I have...
is why in Hell does Greg Anderson keep "omerta" (silence) before the Grand Jury? What's in this for Anderson???

It's not like Anderson's an organized-crime "soldier" who's keeping quiet to protect his "bosses"... (although most of those "wiseguys" tend to testify and go into the Witness Protection Program.) As far as I can see, he's not trying to protect the First Amendment (as some reporters have for refusing to reveal their sources)...

So just WHY is Greg Anderson refusing to testify? What is he getting out of his jail time?

As far as the "steroids era" goes in MLB, howcum nobody ever mentions the pitchers who were using "illegal" performance-enhancing substances during those years?

More questions than answers, I'll admit...

to protect Barry
He's keeping silent to protect his friend and former employer, Barry Bonds.  And I'm pretty sure Barry has promised to pay him a large sum once he finally does get out of jail.

If he's dumb enough to believe Barry...
...he deserves to rot in jail. I think he's smarter than that and got his $$$$ from Barry upfront.

by Ignatius J Reilly on Jul 5, 2007 9:05 PM EDT up reply actions

If that's true
then Barry's crazy.  That's more illegal than the steroids

by Valatan on Jul 5, 2007 9:05 PM EDT up reply actions

Keep in mind
More pitchers than hitters have been busted for steroids since MLB began testing.

Bonds has certainly hit home runs off...enhanced...pitchers.

by whopperman on Jul 7, 2007 1:43 PM EDT reply actions

but the busted pitchers
have been scrubs.  They haven't caught pedro martinez or randy johnson or johan santana using steroids.

This leads me to believe that steroids don't really help pitchers all that much.

Unless, of course, the vague rumors about Roger Clemens are true.

by Valatan on Jul 7, 2007 3:25 PM EDT up reply actions

Yes, but we KNOW Barry Bonds
Gary Sheffield and Jason Giambi have used PEDs.  Yet NONE of them have tested positive (except Bonds for his speed).

How can you trust a system where 3 guys who have admitted to using them (in court) never failed a test?
