wow that's a murderers row I think that's a better lineup then the Mets lineup.
The Braves might just win the WS with that lineup.

It's a scary lineup alright
but i don't think they'll win the world series though

worry about the division
before you start talking world championships.

But yeah, the Mets better be scared. Maybe a Juan Encarnacion or two would make them feel better, heh.

On with the youth movement!

We should just make this the 'Deadline Deals'
thread to keep track of them.

Deal almost done: Wily Mo Pena and minor leaguers to White Sox for Jermaine Dye.

Just reported in Chicago (WSCR 670 AM)
The deal is falling apart because the Red Sox don't want to include Delcarmen.

Lohse to Phillies
http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7075268

The Phillies, seeking to upgrade their rotation, have acquired Reds right-hander Kyle Lohse for Class AA left-hander Matt Maloney, according to a major-league source.

Wow!!!
Their #9 prospect, according to BA, for Kyle Lohse?

He hasn't been absolutely terrible...but almost.

Pitch to swing and misses...not contact. I've never heard of a "seeing eye K"

He is really erratic.. Philles have enough good
hitters to overcome bad starts, so maybe it will work for them.  I think he's a free agent after this season too.  The Reds probably weren't going to re-sign him, so this is great for them.

Details
http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7074758
The Mets are close to acquiring second baseman Luis Castillo from the Twins for two minor leaguers, according to major-league sources.

Mets Class AA catcher Drew Butera and Class A outfielder Dustin Martin are among the players the Twins are considering.

The deal is expected to be finalized after a review of the medical records of the players involved.

But it looks like Dotel is still just close not done.

The Braves could be on the verge of not only acquiring the best hitter on the trade market, but one of the best relievers as well.

In addition to reaching a preliminary agreement for Rangers first baseman Mark Teixeira, the Braves are close to a deal for Royals closer Octavio Dotel, according to major-league sources.

More on Braves and Dotel from Fox Sports
In exchange for Dotel, the Royals would receive right-hander Kyle Davies, according to the Kansas City Star. Davies, 23, is 0-1 with a 4.50 in two starts for Class AAA Richmond after going 4-8 with a 5.76 ERA in 17 starts with the Braves.

The Dotel trade is contingent on the Braves finalizing their deal for Teixeira and left-handed reliever Ron Mahay, according to an industry source.

Apparently we just traded...
For some dude named Jack L. Squat.

Anyone know about him?

by craig3410 on Jul 30, 2007 7:49 PM EDT reply actions

I don't see...
Matt Diaz as an every day player, but rather platooning in LF with Willie Harris.

A lineup I would be more inclined to see (now that Kelley Johnson is out of his slump)

Kelley Johnson  2B
Edgar Renteria  SS
Chipper Jones  3B
Mark Teixeira  1B
Androw Jones  CF (hopefully he stops sucking)
Jeff Francoeur  RF
Brian McCann  C
Willie Harris/Matt Diaz  LF
