Bernie Bits

Props to the Cards on renaming the Press Box after two Hall of Fame writers -- Bob Broeg and Rick Hummel. As I was reading Bernie's column on the announcement, a certain blurg caught my attention.

Many St. Louis fans, including myself, have been wary on Keith Law's views of the Cardinals. I'm not sure where he is getting his info from, but here is one more tidbit for the rumor fire.

'On a chat on ESPN.com, baseball analyst Keith Law gave more airing to the rumors that Cardinals general manager Walt Jocketty and manager Tony La Russa are leaving after the season. "Both in Cincinnati (next season)," Law said in response to a question. "(Jeff) Luhnow takes over as GM." ...

Thoughts?

Lunhow's got his hands full at the moment
I'd be surprised if Law's right on this one.

You and me
both.  Law sure seems to hate the Cardinals.

law is blunt
but i think he's misunderstood. he's a nice guy from what i understand, and if you have have a question for him he'll answer. and i seriously doubt he hates the cardinals.

i think you have him pretty well pegged erik
he is very blunt, and at first i thought he just didnt like the cards either, but now i think he is just telling it like it is, as the cards have been at best mediocre since the start of june last year, and, as law said, they got healthy, and a bit lucky in october
that being said, i really dont have any idea whether he has a clue about what tony and jock are doing

BTW, he has posted here in the past

I too don't think he hates the Cardinals.  I think some of us just get defensive when we hear things we don't want to believe about our birds.

Thanks for the link
It was interesting to see what he said when directly asked "why do you hate the Cards?"  Although Law said he didn't hate them and was unbiased about the team, it seemed to me that he was unnecessarily harsh after every Cards win in the WS and rather bitter when the Birds had the audacity to win and blow his predictions out of the water.  That said, I admit I had a good laugh every morning when I read his piece about the previous night's game.

I think they might be leaving, I don't see the
Reds as the team though.  I don't think Luhnow is ever going to be the GM.  I just get the impression that he really wants to put his efforts into building a first class farm system.
