Cards sign 10 international "July 2" players

Good to see them signing some players from the international pipeline. Our minor league system seems to have been fairly empty in that regard until recently.

This development

is one of the most exciting things going on w/i the Cards organization. The establishment of these academies in Latin America and development of these players should improve the organization immeasurably. The Jays, Dodgers and a few others have had tremendous farm systems over the years due in large part to their success in Latin America and it's about time the Cards got involved as well.

It is something that is long overdue......

The Royals also have something like this in Latin America--and just scouting these players is not enough. You have to grab them before the Dodgers do. I liked that they have devised a plan and are implementing it because the farm system was so bad for a lot of years running, and looks like we are finally going to have some talent make it by 2009, maybe sooner.
