I read it last week, it made me feel old that he was a rookie twenty years ago, but did spark a good question at the bar on Saturday: Was Bo the first baseball player to break his bat over his knee?

Everybody off the bandwagon!

I still remember
pick-up baseball around the time he did that, as we all tried immitating him only to leave huge bruises / red marks our legs in the end. I think we might have bent a wiffle ball bat once . . .

Does anyone know where we can get some video footage? YouTube is coming up blank.

On with the youth movement!

The throw
The throw that nailed Reynolds was unreal. My recollection is that, after the ump called Reynolds out, Bo engaged in an uncharacteristic bit of showmanship: He pointed his finger at Reynolds, pretended to shoot him and then blew on the tip of his finger like it was the barrel of a gun.

Bo
was, and still is, the best athlete I've ever seen. The man was a freak of nature.

Sitting in the bleachers
as a little kid at County Stadium, I was amazed how big he looked in person...just a physical freak...
