Buckman promoted

According to the QC Times, Brandon Buckman has been promoted to Palm Beach to replace Mark Hamilton who has been promoted to Springfield. Here is the link:

It is nice to see that we have some prospects that are playing well enough that they deserve to move up.

pretty good slate of 1st basemen in this system
joe mather at triple A; hamilton at double A; buckman at high A. hamilton can't play a lick of outfield, but if he hits well at double A he becomes good trade bait. mather can play the outfield, so if he hits he has a chance to stick.

1st Base
It's nice to know the position our system is stocked up in, is also the position that will most likely not be needed knock on wood

Mather
I really think/hope Mather is worked more in the OF than at 1B. He's got a bat that can help the big club soon, isn't bad as an OF, and with Schu getting the call to the bigs they can slide Ank into CF and Mather to a corner spot.

But then...
What do you do with Stavinoha?

by whopperman on Jun 20, 2007 4:39 PM EDT up reply actions

something like this...
LF Stavinoha
CF Ankiel
RF Mather

And...
kick J-Rod to the curb?

by whopperman on Jun 20, 2007 8:00 PM EDT up reply actions

JRod...
he'll get his PT just like he did when we had an OF of Ankiel, Schumaker and Stavinoha.

Well...
If by that you mean use a four-man outfield where each one plays three out of four, then yeah.

They didn't have Ankiel, Schumaker, and Stavinoha out there together all that often.

Buckman!
Okay, quick... Everybody back on the bandwagon... Now back off... Back on... Now dance!

Allen craig
Had similar stats to Hamilton, any idea when he gets the call to move up?

check the montly breakdown
Allen was hot in April/early May.  Hamilton's been hot in June.

Hamilton is swinging the better bat at the moment.

All the same, Craig...
really has no one of importance blocking him at Springfield.

I'd love to see them scrap Richardson and move
Craig up but he is dithering at the moment.  So I understand the logic (even if I'm not a Hamilton believer).

Sure, he's not raking like he was in April
but an .842 OPS in June is not too shabby. Tempted to rush a 22 year-old 8th-rounder out of college on the left side of the infield with a bat.

There's also a Juan dating the girl I like...

Good call
Thanks

Saw him last night..
Went to the Midwest League All-Star game last night in Kane County & saw Buckman go 2-3 with a ringing double to right center. His single was a shot between 1st & 2nd.
Tall guy, but I guess you all already knew that.
Everytime he was up I yelled, "Bring us something in a trade!!!"... The children behind me giggled...
