prince fielder passed him and is ahead by 23,000 votes, this is the time when we need to really bote for albert, price fielder is just getting all the media from ESPN cause his the son of that other guy (cecil)? fielder and because he looks funny running the bases and is fat, i say we all start voting for albert pujols ASAP the all start game would not be the same without him.

Vote for albert!

Pujols
This vote update doesn't suprise me one bit. Not going to go on a tirade about the East Coast Media but Sir Albert isn't a fav with a lot of the press/media types, so guys like Derek Lee (in 05) Ryan Howard (06) and Prince this year are the "sexy" choices to many.

Albert will still make the team no matter what though (Tony will pick him).  But to be honest seeing Albert running a little gimpy the past several weeks I think 3 days off would be better for him and the team.

But no matter the vote Albert will be in San Fran the 2nd week of July.

+1
Fielder leads the National League in home runs & plays on a first-place team. He deserves to start.. Duh..

Already voted 75 times
On 3 seperate email adresses, I kind of think Fielder deserves it though. but being a cardinals fan, i'll stiff arm him anyways

Much better?
He has about .070 OPS and 8 runs created on Pujols.

According to UZR, Pujols takes care of that gap with the glove, and of course he might take care of it with the bat before the all-star game is even played.

well
Pick off's go as CS. and what about trying stretch a single into a double isn't that a CS as well?

by nybirdfan on Jun 19, 2007 10:08 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

No and no.
Pickoff is only a CS when you attempt to advance.

Vote for AL
Albert is one of the best gloves at first. He trails in homers and rbis' but you gotta give him a plus for his defense. Overall I would still take AL and it will be a lot easier to do so once he busts out again real soon. Vote for AL.

Fielder deserves it
Albert is having a great month+ and for his career is going to be a HOF.  However, Prince has flat out outhit Pujols this year.

All-star Voting
Please don't just vote for Albert or any other Cardinal just beacuse they are the Cardinals. Vote for the player who is having the best year at each position, no matter what team they play for. Yes Albert does deserve to be on the team but Fielder is clearly having a better year so far. Other than Albert no other Cardinals, besides maybe Izzy, deserve to be on the team.

I can't stand fan voting. It has totally diminished what it means to be a all-star player. No longer are you the best, you are just the fan favorite. The all-star game has turned into the Yankees/Red Soxs vs. the Mets.

Yes I understand the all-star game is for the fans, but lets just let the players/coaches decide who's the best that year and we won't notice at all. I bet it will even make the game better.

I'd start the gooch.

Amen....
I think we had this discussion earlier and I got reemed for saying something similar.  The All-Star tag should mean something, not just people are slavishly devoted to me or the team I play for.  (And yes, they should get rid of one player from each team.)

As of right now, I'm voting for NO Cardinals.

i agree
i hate the one player from each team bullshit. you usually end up with some scrum from horrible team (this year, the nationals).

I disagree
Back in the 90s, I always wanted to see the one Cardinal get into the game.  It was a disappointment if they didn't, but at least you could see the Cardinal jersey there.

I think the one-team rep is a good rule.  If for no other reason that it keeps at least a couple of the large-market team players home.  Who wants to see a complete AS team of Yanks and Red Sox?

I know who doesn't:
Scott Cooper.
