"The Cardinals not signing Jeff Weaver is how you don't win divisions, and my prediction is the St. Louis Cardinals won't win their division this year."

Makes me chuckle

If you're a really good agent, you come across as a terrible person. You more or less have to, given how much lying you're going to be doing. But Boras (and Rosenhaus in football) really take this to another level. I'm pretty sure even Jeff Weaver shook his head when he read that.

He's a professional advocate...

maybe he's strictly rational and forthright during his off hours, but when it's on Jeff Weaver's nickel, he says what he thinks will help Jeff Weaver.

It's kind of disgusting and sleazy... until you need someone to advocate for you.

funny thing...

...about that article is that they mention that the cardinals are near the bottom of the standings, but fail to mention Weaver's stats or that he isn't starting for Seattle either. They writing is very suspect.

Jeff Weaver has been a gutsy, Against-All-Odds, Orel Hershisher clone for one freakin' month (October 2006) of his entire career... and Scott Boras cashed in. Good economic move for Boras; baaaaaaaaaaaad competitive move for Weaver.
