The Hardball Times has a really interesting article today about infield defense on ground balls. It basically shows a lot of what we already know -- Pujols is outstanding, Eckstein is average. But it's interesting to see that Rolen is not that far above average. It seems more like he just plays more towards the hole and therefore is probably better able to turn those grounders into outs because he's closer to 1B. But he really doesnt add that many extra outs it seems. One other possibility is that he compensates for Eckstein who is able to move farther torwards 2B and make those plays. What do you guys think?
