Burwell on Pujols

Sorry if this is old news to people, but I just wanted to say I found Bryan Burwell's column on Pujols and his father's alcoholism quite touching.  Started out thinking it was a sanctimonious take (for which, frankly, I have come to know Burwell) on the issue of alcohol remaining such a fixture for Cards' fans post-Hancock tragedy.  But in the second half of the column I was surprised -- and saddened even more.

I found it touching too.  He is right though, there aren't enough cabs in StL to take home all the fans that shouldn't be driving.  People, please don't let JH's mistakes be your mistakes too.  Wake up and realize that it could happen to you or someone you love -  DON'T drive in an impaired condition.

There aren't enough cabs
but there is MetroLink...

They could easily extend hours on gameday until 1:00, at least for the train.

Grudge
I guess Pujols has forgiven Burwell for that nasty article he wrote about him during the playoffs last year regarding Pujols in the clubhouse/with the media.   I actually seem to remember them talking on the field the next day and it seemed they worked it out.

I still think about it every time I read one of his article though.  Guess I'm not so forgiving, nice piece or not...

Burwell sucks
Burwell's piece on Albert last year was way out of line.  Albert has proved him wrong.

This current article has some merit but from a journalistic standpoint it sucked.  He talks about spilled beer twice and makes no real point either time.  The last line about the "cushion said Budweiser on it" was pointless.  We already got the idea about a ballpark named after a beer, the scoreboard say budweiser, ect...  He went over the top with that line and it sounded sappy.

it was interesting to
learn that factoid about albert, but i agree. i'm no fan of burwell at all. he never has anything to say unless it's about something controversial. nothing about actual games played on the field, ever.
