Craig Wilson released by Braves

Well, Craig Wilson was released today by the Braves.  Hitting a very Cardinal-esque .178, he was coveted by the Birdos several years now. Would a change in scenery be what he needs?

On the plus side of that transaction, it means my keeper league catcher Saltalamacchia stays in the bigs... :)

why
can't he play the outfield anymore?
On with the youth movement!

I heard
he has bad knees or something that limit his mobility to the point where playing the OF just isn't feasible.  Notice that he's played 20 games at 1b this year to 0 in the OF -- for a team that could really use an everyday LF.

Hmmm
Well, that would certainly make him less-than-valuable to the Cards.

who would you want to keep ...
out of C. Wilson, P. Wilson, Ludwick as a pinch hitter / spare outfielder?  Now that Juan E. is back and So T has the other OF bench spot sowed up (in TLR's book), my preference would be to recall JRod from Memphis.  The primary role of this bench slot should be PH.  I'd prefer a left-hander to compliment So T.

So
I'd rather have a Wilson-type on the bench as the RH pinch hitter than Taguchi, especially now that Enc is back and can play center.

eh I'm 50/50 with this one
I could care less, then again we need a good hitter

Wilson is done.
He was interesting some time ago, but he hasn't done anything at all since leaving the Yankees, and he really only had one good season - in platoon, three years ago.

Also, as we are seeing with the Kip Wells experiment, the Cardinals really aren't providing any kind of winning atmosphere for these losing-infected former Pirates to turn things around in. If "a change of scenery" was what Craig Wilson needed, jumping from the Pirates to the first-place Yankees, and then the first-place Braves should have been it.
