Curt Flood Article in USA today

There's a pretty decent article called "The Man Who Changed the Game" about Curt Flood in today's USA Today.  Basically about how he was the first player to really take aim at breaking the firm grip that team ownership had on each player's freedom and how he is barely recognized today by most young players as one of the reasons they have multi-million dollar contracts.

I'm not a big fan of USA today after last year's "Tigers in three" crap, but I thought I'd at least let people know the article was out there.

That's really cool
Thanks for the link. Curt Flood Jr's reply is especially interesting.

Gosh,
When I was a child he was my favorite Cardinal.  I used to tuck my hair in my cap and pretend I was him in centerfield.  I even thought I would grow up to be just like Curt.  Never mind that I was a girl...it didn't register with me that girls didn't grow up to be major league ballplayers.  It's a shame that he doesn't get the recognition he deserves.

Reading....
"A Well Paid Slave" right now.  Excellent book, though the second half becomes a legal history/analysis.  Very well researched and written and sheds some light on one of the most influential athletes of the 20th century.
