Narveson out of options?

Can anyone tell me if Chris Narveson is out of options?  If so, what happens after he is called up to start against the Brewers next Tuesday?  It is possible that Carpenter is healthy enough to start within the next two weeks.  But if Narveson is out of options he surely will not make it through the waiver wire if the Cards intend on sending him back to Memphis.

This has been covered...
ad nauseum...  He made it through at the beginning of the year, he'll probably make it through now, and if he doesn't we'll get some other crappy AAAA pitcher to help us finish 70-92.

Nothing like losing to the Cubs to sour a mood :(

If Narveson is outrighted a second time...
...he has the right to become a free agent.

out of options
I have never quite understood the real worry about Narvie being out of options at this point.  The only way Narvie gets any sort of shot is if one of our starters goes down mid-season.  One of our starters is down presently.  Give him his shot.  If he looks good, keep him on the big club (hide him in the bullpen if necessary).  If he does not impress, then he is waiver bait.  It's really this year or never for Narvie.  We've got a stable of young arms at AA breathing on the backs of the guys at AAA.  Narvie's shelf life has expired in the Cards organization.

I agree.
The other thing if he does well is he may end up  "the player to be named" in a bigger deal.
