community guidelines/code of conduct

so, i'm listening to npr this morning, and i know that we've agonized (larry in particular) about instituting the guidelines, but it seems that we may have been preemptive.

there are some frightening parts of the story as far as people's beliefs about what they can say in relative anonymity.

and as long as we're on the subject --- the posting so far has been totally cool, despite the team's frustrating performance so far. people are taking the guidelines to heart, which i appreciate.

somebody sent me the community guidelines from another site, which i thought were pretty funny. just to be clear, i am not planning to adopt these guidelines for VEB . . . . .

the guidelines comprised one sentence, which basically read: "if your comments are sufficiently annoying to the moderators, you will be kicked off the board."

simple; easy to understand. fair? no, but at least there's no pretense about it.
