Reyes to the Sox

It's being reported that Anthony Reyes will go to the White Sox for Buerhle and Darin Erstad...

Apparently Jocketty thinks Buerhle has worked through his recent struggles and he likes the fire and the intangibles Erstad brings.

I say it's a good deal if we can sign Buerhle to an extension.

As far as the rumor holding any water, I don't see how it could possibly be true. Why would the White Sox trade away Buerhle AND Erstad to get Reyes? I would figure that the Sox would want multiple pieces just for Buehrle. They just signed Erstad, so I don't think that they could trade him anyway. Besides, I don't think that anyone outside of Erstad's agent thinks Darin is a good value or risk. And that would be a ton of salary coming our way.

To me, it sounds like a, "Hey, let's trade Looper and Encarnacion, and maybe Rincon, to the Marlins for Hanley Ramirez or, ooh ooh, Miguel Cabrera." Somebody spouting off, trying to trade away two or more contracts they hate to a team that has a young player they covet.

Everywhere is within walking distance if you have the time.

in college, when i did baseball play-by-play for the Cal Bears on the university station, i announced on the air that the ticker was showing my broadcast partner's favorite player ---- terry steinbach --- had been traded to the mets for the despised darryl strawberry. the poor kid was apoplectic for about 2 or 3 hitters before i finally broke it to him . . . .
