I have a question

It has made me stay up all night going through my old baseball cards for the answer. Hey, I didnt feel like cheating and using the interwebs. Instead, I plan on asking this, the most knowledgeable fan base out there. Who, if any, was the last person to win back to back cy youngs, other than cy himself? Excuse my igonorance its one of my monthly brain farts.

That Cy Young never won the Cy Young Award? Amazing!

Actually, that was not meant to mock you in any way. It was just a stupid factoid that used to pop up on an old Triple Play Baseball computer game. That's like saying that Jackie Robinson never won the Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year Award, or that Richard Petty never won the Nextel Cup chamionship.

Besides, you must be blessed to only get brain farts on a monthly basis. I get them every hour, on the hour.

I'm guessing the Nextel Cup came into existence after Petty retired.

In reality you are correct, but because of advertising naming rights, the title becomes retroactive. Winston doesn't get any free advertisement because of past sponsorship. Thus, every driver who has ever won the Nascar first tier season championship is a winner of the (instert year) "Nextel Cup Championship"

Huh, that seems weird

Didn't realize that they would do it that way. Seems odd that a driver back in the day could win a championship named after a company that didn't exist back then.

Pedro Martinez was the last AL pitcher to win back to back Cy Young awards in '99 and '00. (Clemens won back to back AL Cy Youngs the 2 years before Pedro).
