Lost in the Ivy: NL Central Preview

Saw this posted in a diary over at Red Reporter. Which, incidentally, is quickly becoming my one of my favorite non-Birds blogs, along with USS Mariner. Anyhow, thought I'd post a similar diary here on the subject.

This is an excerpt from a Cub centered NL Central Preview piece. It gets worse than the Cards preview, much worse in fact, but here is the Cards part:

Cardinals:

Star Players: Albert Pujols, Albert Pujols, Albert Pujols
Analysis: I don't, in all honesty, remember a team that one year after winning the world series, is so much worse than the team they beat. They are the Bulls of the late eighties. They have one legend (Pujols), two fading stars (Preston Wilson, Scott Rolen), and a couple role players (David Eckstein, Chris Duncan). How does a pitching staff get worse when they successfully rid themselves of Jason Marquis? They replace him with Kip Wells. This team is worse than last year, for if no other reason, than the fact that they are a year older. Everyone has driven a car that has gone way farther than they expected to, even though they neglected the car, and then decided to drive it cross country. But, even through that, the car came through like a champ. Then, all of a sudden, driving to the mall, the car completely craps out. That, my friends, is the Cardinals in a nutshell.

Where they will finish: 2nd

I know, Spring Training is almost here.

Wow
that synopsis of the devision is brutal. I was surprised at "two fading stars (Preston Wilson, Scott Rolen)" no mention of Jim Edmonds in this section? I guess he really has fallen under the radar.

Jeff Suppan is a star player, but no mention of Carp? ok

I suspect...
either PW's agent or Mookie wrote that...
Acquire any Established Major League Starter!

I don't understand
how someone who averages around an .880 OPS (Rolen) is fading.

So you don't like our Cubs writer, huh?
Well, as one of the admins from Sweet Home Sports, let me tell you we don't either. Heck, we're all White Sox fans, and we're wondering what the hell happened? As we like to say on the South Side, people up north just don't get it.

In all seriousness, I can handle opinion, even bad opinion, but factual errors suck. Expect some kind of appropriate response from us, cuz we didn't expect this sort of shit to get posted.

By the way...
Lost in the Ivy is the Cubs page of our Chicago sports site, Sweet Home Sports.

Whoa, whoa whoa...
They are the Bulls of the late eighties

I have no absolutely no idea what that's supposed to mean. Is Edmonds supposed to be Dave Corzine? Rolen as Brad Sellers? Who is Sam Vincent!? Rory Sparrow!?! I guess Miles as Artis Gilmore would be funny, but this analogy still makes no sense.

While this preview is utterly terrible, it is probably the only preview written about the Cards mentioning their number 4/5/6 OF'er (Preston? How'd he sneak in there?) as a "former star." So it's got that going for it.

Cheers

What do you expect
from the type of fan who thinks Adam Dunn sucks.

Apparently, Carpenter is chopped liver.

Just another Cubs writer showing their bias . . .
On with the youth movement!

It Gets Better
He wrote up another post defending his rankings. In it, he confuses numbers for stats. Must be seen to be believed.

Boooo!
They took down both of the posts, and put up this notice.

For those who missed the party: Google cache. The follow-up post was a true work of art that I dare not begin to describe. Alas, it is lost to this world for all time.

I can't believe it...
I read the first one, and then saw that he came back for more.  That guy is we-tawd-ed.

This wonderful thing called the internet
allows anyone an opportunity to put their works in front of the world to see.  This may not be the greatest idea after all...........
That's a winner!

On second thought
This just really pumps me up for this season. Let's show the Cubs how it's done!

I love it when
Cubfans get cocky in the spring. It just makes their summer dashing of hopes and dreams that much sweeter for the rest of us. Go Cubbies! Heh.

How does a pitching staff get better
when they give Jason Marquis 21 million dollars?
