What's up with the new hats??? Just say no!

Please, oh please, tell me those goofy hats I've seen teams wearing in spring training are NOT the gameday hats, but just for practice. I'm talking about the ones with the "swoosh" colors on the side, just above the ears, with the white piping.

Yes, I know they're switching from wool to something else this year, but I do hope the MLB is keeping the gameday hats a SOLID color.

Anyone know the story behind these hats? I looked in past diaries here, but saw no posts.

Hats

Even though they are only for BP and practice, they are some of the ugliest things MLB has come up with.
But they have done their job. We are all talking about them and thats what MLB wanted. But Damn they're ugly!

Yeah

Players always wear different uniforms for BP and Spring Training. If you've ever gone to a store and seen those mesh hats that they call "official," that's because they're for practice. Don't worry, there would have been a huge announcement if we had new uniforms (kind of along the lines of the D-Backs).

Hats

They are ugly. I've seen a few that look halfway decent (depending on the team), but overall they're ugly and I doubt many people will be buying them.

Merchandising

If MLB is going to attempt to make an extra dime off of Spring Training/BP alternative hats, they could at least not be hideous.

spring training

the hats look horrible, they always do in spring training. i remember when i was a kid i had to get a bp one of the sunday home cap. now i never wear the damn thing cause i realized how ugly it is. i compare these new hats to those ugly helmets some teams introduced last year (mets, dodgers, cubs(?)) i'll be really pissed if they switch from wool too...there is no better smell than a rain-soaked wool stl hat.

Speaking of Ugly Changes

Has anyone seen the new Dbacks jerseys? They might take the the cake this year as the ugliest jerseys in baseball. What color is that exactly? Looks like you mixed red and orange and pink all together and got that.

The new D-Backs unis

They aren't great, but they're much better than the colors they had before. Purple and teal is for the WNBA. They pretty much look like the Astros now.

Dirt Behind the Ears

The new caps look like they were designed by someone that didn't have a mother checking how to wash.

Maybe it's a new spot for pitchers to hide stuff.

Some of us take our hats very seriously!

You say that they are just hats, but if the front office decided to change the uni's from the birds on the bat, would you be ok with it? I honestly don't know what I would do if it ever happened, but it wouldn't be pretty!
