Cards interested in Cliff Lee?

Hmmm...

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=3140986&name=winter_meetings

I've always liked Cliff Lee, but I don't like him for Reyes AND Anderson. Bryan Anderson is a potential star. We need to flip him for young, stud pitching. Lee's a lefty, but has struggled in Cleveland. I think he'd pitch well in St. Louis, but I just really believe that Mo could get much more for Reyes and Anderson.

at first,
I liked the idea but now after looking at his stats I think we could get something better for that combo.  Here are his numbers

bad idea
In 4 seasons with 10+ starts he has had an ERA+ of 80, 111, 103 and 75. His xFIP over the last 4 season is 5.04,  4.56, 5.46 and 5.57. In the last two season Reyes has had an xFIP of 5.11 and 5.35. So basically we would trade a 4/5 starter (who's younger and cheaper) and the 2nd best ctaching prospect in the minors for a 4/5 starter. Not a good idea.

I do not want Anderson traded.
I like the idea of a catcher that can hit.  Give him some time to see if he can develop into an adequate defensive catcher.  You know, there are some catchers who are good enough AND hit enough.  I want my team to have a McCann, Mauer, Russell or Posada.  What if Anderson can be that guy-he's just starting AAA-don't trade him now.

Cliff Lee
is overrated.  I'd rather get Aaron Laffey from them, and he's still only worth Bryan Anderson max.
