Would you welcome Morris back?
As has already been posted, the Pirates may be interested in shipping Morris as well as Wilson to the Cardinals in trade. Is this something you would applaude or groan about?
Personally, while it's not the #1/#2 pitcher most of us would like to have added to the roster, I'd welcome the addition of Morris back to the Cards as long as the cost in trade doesn't go beyond a selection from the aforementioned trio of Reyes/Johnson/Thompson. It still looks like the guy will give you 200 innings of high 4ERA ball and carries only a couple of years. All other issues aside, do you welcome him back?

I would hope the Cardinals would get a better veteran than Morris or at least similarly aged talent in a deal.
I think it is an awful trade for the Cardinals. I don't care if Pitt does eat salary.

Rather
If I do the math right Woody was about 34 or 35 when he joined STL so it would be about the same age as Matt.

No...
The only pitcher the Cards need to worry about aqcuiring is a legit top o' the rotation guy. If he can't be had...then you save the money/trade pieces until he can.
The only way this makes sense at all is if all the Pirates require is Schumacher, Thompson, or someone of that ilk.

if Littlefield hadn't been
If we do get him back, Piniero gets to keep #35.
I also think TJ could put up numbers almost as good as MM if he was given the opportunity that Reyes wasted last year...

Why does Pineiro

I'm not fimiliar with what he was offered

we offered 2Y/$13M
So at the time, it seemed to me that he was being greedy and that Sabean was crazy (which turned out to be true; Sabean is very lucky that Littlefield bailed him out).

...MattMo shudda stayed at home....
It bothered me too when he left, but things were getting so nut$, I guess now I cant fault him. His grandkids great-grandkids are set for life!
What was his velocity like at the end of 07'?

What if...
Then I would be interested. Morris could definately be a #3 guy if he reunited with Duncan.
Plus, I am thinking Looper will have a tough time going injury-free after his first full season starting. We could use the solid depth Morris provides.

if we give up those 3 pitchers

They wouldn't trade Snell for that
If we got Bay (which I don't think we would), along with Morris and Wilson, I'd think you'd have to start shopping Looper and Ankiel.

oh, i agree
Picking up Morris and Wilson from the pirates would be an act of charity even if we didn't give them anything in return...

What about
Morris is more solid than Looper, and we get a SS.
We keep Reyes (for whatever reasons), the Pirates lose salary and get pitching.

interdivisional
I still think we should try to get a pitching prospect from the chiSox for Reyes after he one hit them. plus Kenny Williams is not gunshy and would take a chance on Reyes.
