Kosuke Fukudome

Why don't we take a shot at this guy.  He has proven himself to be a very big impact at the plate in japan and it is also said that he has excellent defense and a cannon for an arm.  This would give us a big bat in our lineup for protection for pujols.  This link talks about what he might go for and I think it might be worth a shot. Tell me what you think.

Me again
Sorry it's my first post and I forgot one or two things. Here is one link for what he might do if he came to the US.

And here is another on his stats and what he has done in japan.

I don't know
He will be 30 opening day 2008.

Ichiro & Matsui stared at age 28 in the Majors.  It is hard to say what type of success a Japaneese guy will have especially a hitter.
I hear people taking about him having great power, but the report says he is not a HR guy?? I am confused because listening to people whose team may be in the running discuss this guy bring up his HR power.

Orestes Destrade who knows Japanese ball pretty well says Fukadome compares to Jacque Jones hitting wise.  I Jacque averages just about 19 HR per year but I hardly call that major power.

I would not get into this bidding war if I am STL, besides the Cardinals have a ton of OF right now.  They need to figure out who is worth keeping and who is not so they need to get some PT for everyone this year.

Japanese stadia are bandboxes
HR totals are inflated there.  It could be the scouts are saying that his statistically apparent power isn't 'legitimate'

if it meant
trading Duncan for some kind of pitcher or shortstop, I would be for it--it would be a good way of getting around the ridiculous overvaluation of free agent pitchers/shortstops.

Can we convince him
to hit righthanded? Are there any RH hitting OF left in the world?  Can we have one (that actually hits LH pitching, Ryan Ludwick smart-alecks)?
youneverknow

I don't see us making a push at him
But I'd much rather go after him than Andruw Jones or Aaron Rowand.

If AndruwJones
was willing to accept a one or two year deal, then i'd prefer him.  But I'd really prefer a solid shortstop and another SP.

i know i'm a broken record on this...
...but the team has no business adding another LH OF bat, considering they already need to shed at least one of those. they need a RH OF, period. there is no way they will go after this guy, nor should they with ankiel, duncan, and edmonds (and schu and rasmus) already on board and only ludwick from the right side.
