World Series Game 3 Open Thread

fogg

15-12, 4.40

10-9, 4.94

on my way back from an errand at about 2 p.m. local time, i drove past the ballpark to soak up a little of the buzz. wound up boxed in by an ungodly snarl of car and foot traffic --- tried bailing out into an alley, eventually had to run a few people over to get back to the street. all this, 4+ hours before the first pitch; 0-2 hole or no, this town has gone nuts. mostly purple shirts / black hats out there, although i did see one unattended sox-logoed individual.

too bad they didn't play in the sunshine. gorgeous day for a baseball game.

Really why no day game
Everyone points to the NFL as how to run things. They have day games and somehow fans can find a tv that works during the day.

by Harknights on Oct 27, 2007 6:32 PM EDT reply actions

Prime time madness
1st game of the WS should always be a day game, especially with a mid week start. I have fond memories of sneaking the transistor radio into grade school classrooms, only to be caught by the teacher that wanted to follow the game as well.  Are they worried about students watching on their iphones?

3rd game, and 1st at visitors park should also be a day game.  They waste the fall sunshine for a cold night instead, just to keep us up past midnight.  Why, because we need to watch more commercials to watch the series on FOX (like we had a choice) and they think we'll pay more attention to those commercials when its dark?

the marketing wizards that forced nothing but night games on us should be put on HGH and told to grow up.

Watching the Playoffs as Reigning Champs is not a bad thing.

Glad to hear it
Antonetti announcement or no, I'd like to see the series go as long as possible. We can wait on Chris a few more days.

good to hear there's no sox fans
in denver. i was afraid they'd take over Coors like every other visiting team.

go Rockies. and erik said it best, death to cook.

This ain't over.  I've seen this script before.  Maybe needs a few revisions here or there but I know how it ends.

Here's a question
IF Josh Fogg goes out tonight and puts up a W, how much more $$$ does that translate to for him this off-season?

If Jeff Suppan didn't do what he did last October, would he have gotten the payday he did? Probably not.

I would guess that Fogg has figured this out for himself by now, not that he needs any extra incentive.

1 year anniversary
A year ago today, the Cardinals were crowned World Champions.

Enjoy it while it lasts, because we're only guaranteed 1 more day of wearing that crown.

Bloop, bloop, bloop
Joe Buck will tell us it is good hitters willing the ball to where the fielders aren't.

Clint does know he can remove the pitcher BEFORE the other team bats around, correct?

Why not use a reliever from the pen to get the 1 out, PH in the bottom of the 3rd and then bring in Morales in the 4th.

"Lugo goes back a MILE!!!!"
Actually, Joe...he took 4 steps backwards, then 2 to the right and then 3 back to his left.  I'd say maybe 10 feet at most.

Dice-K is being very effective but a pitcher that runs the count to 3-2 to almost every batter isn't 'dealing'.

And to think, McCarver used to be thought of as one of the more intelligent players in baseball.  Or atleast one of the most self-aware.

Okajima is a pimp... and you know this man!Holliday took him for a ride but you have to like the bulldog tenacity he showed by finishing off the inning with 2 K's and a ground out. I would take him on my team any day of the week.
