Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

With today's news, who do you say is the new GM?

I really think it's down to Mo vs. Antonetti. I'm not a betting man, but my money would be on Mo.  Nevertheless, DeWitt is doing this HIS way.  I'm interested in which GM you PREDICT will be running the show.

Personally, I want Antonetti as our GM and it's encouraging that DeWitt has waited to at least interview the guy.  I hope he's seriously considered.

If it were set in stone...
... that Mo was gonna get the job, then I don't see why they'd wait so long. The time these deliberations have taken are directly proportional to the Indians run in the playoffs. That leads me to believe that Antonetti is going to get serious contention.

of course, he might not want the job. He's turned down other jobs, so maybe he's happy enough in Cleveland that it'd take a perfect job (or significantly larger market) to pry him away. St. Louis might not be the place. but I think DeWitt is going to give him a serious look. In the end, that's all you can ask for. there are dynamics involved that none of us have any clue about, and it's certainly possible that it won't work out with Antonetti for those kinds of reasons.

I think he would have signed for 3 years
if it was going to be Mo (that was the rumored framework of the deal).  The 2 year deal makes me think that TLR wants to see how he and the new GM get along.

i hope your right.
and what you say makes sense. i'd rather see antonetti in there. tony signing before a gm was hired kind of surprised me. i thought he wanted to see who it was gonna be, so maybe him signing could give us fans a little hint on what's to come in future days.

I believe it comes down to what Antonetti
is willing to do with Lunhow.  If he is willing to allow Jeff to control what he already controls and work within that structure, the job is probably his.

If not, Mo was the go between for Walt and Jeff from all the reports I've read and more than likely, the job will be his.

I think the best man
for the job is probably Walt Jocketty.

Isn't any open GM position
Antonetti's if he wants it?  That seems how most of the media portrays it at least . . .

How about Mo as GM and Antonetti as Ass Gm??
Would Antonetti take an assistant job with St. Louis and see that as an upgrade over Cleveland assistant G.M.? I mean he could focus on player development with Lunhow while Mo is the front man. Would be my ideal scenario.

Antonetti's more experienced
He's been assistant GM in Cleveland since 2002. Mozeliak's only been a full-time assistant GM since 2005, though he's had that title on his door in some form since 2003.

From what I've read, the USS Mariner article especially, Chris Antonetti looks like the best man for the job.

Supposedly (meaning I'm too lazy too look up an article saying so), Tony's approved all the candidates and all the candidates have approved Tony.

Since Antonetti was waiting until after the ALCS to interview with the Cardindals, and since we've waited for him to interview with us, it sure sounds to me like he'll be the next General Manager of our beloved St. Louis Cardinals.

I hope Tony
allows DeWitt to hire him.
