Mulder ready by opening day?

A column in the Star-Telegram has Mulder's agent saying the Mark is ahead of schedule, and may be ready opening day. The agent restates that 25 starts is a likely number just to be fair.

I would like to see Mulder back. In this market what would 25 healthy starts from Mulder be worth?

Then the next question is what will he actually sign for?

Any ideas about what it will take to get him?

"Mark Mulder is still looking at the Cards, Rangers, and Indians for his options.  The Tribe has offered two years and $8MM with another $7MM in incentives.  The Rangers offer less than $8MM guaranteed but a possible package of $18.75MM instead of $15MM."

I'm kind of surprised it's not higher.  I'd think that we'll sign him to a 2 year contract w/ around a guaranteed $8M w/ $8-10M in incentives.

i don't believe the agent
sounds like somebody's trying to drive up the price for his client. i still wouldn't count on mulder pitching until after the all-star break.

walt
walt has always said june or AS break or something like that.  i would actually prefer mulder takes it easy.  rushing back could cause further problems.

agreed
you don't come back so quick from an injury like Mulders. his agent is trying to sell some magic beans here.

It won't happen
Like lboros said, it's just Agent-speak.  Mulder had his rotator cuff repaired.  It will take at least 9 months from the surgery date for him to repetitively pitch from a mound with any success.  Remember the rotator cuff is muscle.  He needs to build up strength and endurance.  AS break is a conservative estimate, IMO.
