Can't think of too many feats of strength around these parts lately, with the obvious exception of Albert's heroics the other night. But when it comes to the airing of grievances, oh boy. When I started thinking about the beefs that I have with Tony and Walt this season, it's a pretty long list:
- Finding a way to give the Gooch 312 AB's. Thankfully the emergence of Duncan put a stop to this problem, but running Gooch out there on a regular basis while Jrod and Spiezio was just plain bad.
- Finding a way to give Miles 466 AB's (with the exception of when Eckstein was out, then he was our only option). This one especially galls me because not only did it hurt us this year, I believe it forced Walt to trade Luna for Belliard just to get Tony to stop playing Miles, thus hurting us down the road as well.
- Jerking around Reyes. If Tony is so worried about the mental stability of his rookie pitchers after the Ankiel saga, then why the hell is he messing with Reyes so much? Just let the kid pitch, and for crying out loud don't send him down to AAA when he's the 3rd best starter on the team!
- Running players out there that are clearly injured. Mulder, Izzy, JED, the list goes on. The handling of Mulder especially almost certainly cost us a couple of wins, wins that we could sure as hell use right now.
