Winners at the trade deadline
Well the Cardinals acquisitions of Ronnie "Thug 4 Life" Belliard and Jorge "Don't call me Sammy" Sosa were pretty underwhelming. Some other teams such as the Yankees, Rangers, Dodgers, Reds and others added quality players. I was wondering who the VEB community thinks improved their position the most at the deadline. Please vote for who you think was the big winner among the buyers (I might do sellers later) at the deadline. Also post some comments about why you think whatever team improved the most. Remember this isn't just who added the biggest names, but who improved their team the most, who most increased their chances of making the playoffs or winning a WS. Also consider what each team gave up and how much money they took on.
P.S. I may have forgotten a few guys or a team that should be considered. If so just write them in a comment.

the yanks...
while on the other hand, Cinci went for the right positions to fill, but filled them with the wrong folks. Thier bull pin just doesn't look upgraded with their new aquirings, maybe Guardado; but he's becoming old (36) and seeing how Lohse pitched tonight (one inning pitched, ER, 4 hits, 7.10 ERA) i still see him more as a minor than a major leaguer.

Yankees and those $$$$$
If I were a Pirates fan though...hoo boy is Littlefield a moron. He got NOTHING decent in return for the guys he sold off. He sold off a young electric arm and kept worthless veteran pieces (Burnitz, Randa) that may have had some marginal value...absolutely horrible job.
I thought the Lee deal was a good one for Texas w/o giving up a lot.
I really thought highly of what Krivisky did at the deadline. Not a huge fan of the Kearns deal but if I was a Reds fan I would at least feel like he was committed to fielding the best team come October.

The Rangers
How sad is it that Reds fans are just happy that they have a manager who will make deals to try to build a team that can win in October...even though the deals minimally upgraded them. Majewski has been gettin' rocked and Bray just lost a game for them last night. Cormier will be nice, but why did they feel the need to add 6 new relievers? Guardado I understand, a dang good closer who just fell into a bad situation out in Seattle and Cormier is a good lefty specialist. Tradin' Kearns and Felipe for Majewski and Bray just seems like a worse and worse deal since Kearns and Felipe are hittin' pretty well out in Washington.
