Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Just for laughs

Here is something I made over at another Cards board (couldn't get it to work here). The idea is stolen from a post I saw at BCB, but I thought it would apply quite well to our current pitching woes. It might make you smile...something the Cards haven't been able to do in the last seven games.

what a great post
here's my mad-libbed post-game interview, with a few write-in responses that weren't in the drop-downs "Tonight the problem was that I faced a real major-league lineup. All I was really hoping for was for Tony and Dave to forget it was my turn to pitch. But unfortunately, some prick in centerfield was stealing our signs, so everything I threw up there might as well have been on a tee. You have to make good pitches. I wonder what it's like to do that. And tonight, I got utterly fucking destroyed out there. I think the problem right now is that I only have 3 outfielders playing behind me and the fences are only 400 feet away. But I'm going to fight through it, and hopefully Tony and Dave will remain deluded that experience equals ability. But above all else, I hope we'll soon be able to break this 87-game losing streak. This city has the best fans in baseball, and I sincerely hope that they will continue to bitch about Isringhausen and not me.

Good one
that I only have 3 outfielders playing behind me and the fences are only 400 feet away.

LOL. I may go back and add that one to the drop-down. :D

"Tonight the problem was that they scored early and I was never able to erase those runs. All I was really hoping for was 12 more outs after our first 27. But unfortunately, I never got that chance, so everything I threw up there was rushed as I knew we were running out of innings. You have to make good pitches. As the pitcher, you can't be relied upon to be the only one tod do that. And tonight, the entire lineup 1-9 couldn't make a pitch. I think the problem right now is that we are vastly underpaid, looking at the rest of the league you can see that the best pitchers are the richest. But I'm going to fight through it, and hopefully the DeWitts will open up their wallets and pay me what I deserve, so I can have the capital I need to be a Cy Young pitcher. But above all else, I hope we'll soon be able to break this 3 year losing streak. This city has the best fans in baseball, and I sincerely hope that they understand as well as I how good a $20 million pitcher who can get you 39 outs a night can be."
