Day dreams about Soriano

Anyone else notice how well Soriano would fit into a Red Bird line up?

Here are his stats:
Alfonso Soriano
Avg. .281 RBI:  41 HR: 16 OBP: 338 SLG: 568 SB: 10

Soriano is a free agent next year, so it's a given that the Nationals will look to deal him this summer for prospects.  His $10 million salary is a lot, but I imagine we'd only be obligated to pay 1/3 of it.

And, now that he's an outfielder, he's less of liability on the field.

I have little doubt that the Cardinals could go all the way with him in the line up.  Picture it:

Eckstein
Soriano
Pujols
Rolen
Edmonds
Encarnacion
Molina
Miles/Luna

Daunting, isn't it?

Day Dreams better be homosexual in nature...
because you're crazy to covet him baseball wise. He's terrible second-bagger and a chemistry killer. If its one thing the Cards have had this last few successful years its been clubhouse comraderie and a good DP combo. PASS! Too many strikeouts anyway..o yeah lost a lotta power, and oh yeah almost forgot he doesn't like to walk. We need him like I need a hole in my head.

Well
But like was already posted, he's less of a liability in the outfield, probably no more of one than JRod.  He's still fairly speedy, and as for losing power, 16 homers already (9 of them at home, in only 18 games).  I dunno how he would affect clubhouse chemistry, but it's feasible to think he might be different coming to a bonafide winner.  Either way I wouldn't mind seeing him in Cardinal red.
Now the story of a wealthy family who lost everything, and the one son who had no choice but to keep them all together...it's Arrested Development.

Purely Baseball Fantasizing
Actually, my fantasizing was entirely baseball oriented.  The guy's going to hit like, 30 or 40 homeruns this year.  And I think he's better in the outfield than at second.

As you say, he needs to get his OBP up.  And his pouting about being moved to the outfield made him look terrible.

All that said, the guy can clobber the ball and he's fast.  If you haven't noticed, we could use another guy or two with those characteristics, IMHO.

So says, The Dude

I agree, I would like to see Soriano, its not going to happen but I'd like it.  But certainly not batting 2.  We need someone to get on base in front of Pujols.

Soriano
regularly hits bombs out of RFK in Washington, a park where fly balls go to die.  He would definitely bash at Busch III.  The bold move would be to plug Soriano in LF, hit him #5 or 6, put JRod in RF and bench Encarnacion.  That's the most productive lineup we could throw out there.  And it would show a lot of guts to admit that Enc is a sunk cost, admit your mistake and go for the better lineup regardless.

Jocketty's bold, but unfortunately not THAT bold.

Er,
Juancar isn't exactly a sunk cost, he's got an .800+ OPS this month. At the very least it would be inane not to platoon him with J-Rod in such a lineup.

finally agree
with something DanUp is saying. haha. JuanE has got it going and has his average up around .250 and climbing. He's gonna be alright.
