spivey's gone
junior, we hardly knew ye:
Spivey remained behind in St. Louis on Sunday and had his achy shoulder checked out. General manager Walt Jocketty said Sunday evening the determination was made that Spivey would not need to start the season on the disabled list.
`I don't think anything will happen before (Monday),'' Jocketty said after the team arrived in Philadelphia. ``We are going to address the roster then. There are people we have to add to the roster. We do have to remove a person, and we have some administering to do for the roster.''
Infielder Hector Luna is on the team, Jocketty confirmed.

There's a deal afoot...
I don't know if someone got claimed off waivers, picked up as a DFA or a straight trade, but I will bet there's a deal that's been made.

Nah, no deal
they shortened the story
I think they do have something in the works for sure, but who and what?
Speculation,anyone?
I'm more worried about what we are going to have
whoever trades with us knows that they have us backed in a corner and I hope we don't give up legetimate talent for a 2b stopgap
Since insanity is fun...
or
Reyes and Schumaker and J-Rod to the Marlins for Miggy Cabrera
or
Soriano for a pack of gum and Bo Hart, thanks to an incompetent Washington front office
i like insanity

why?
CC
He actually finished the season ahead of 2 2nd basemen many bemoan we didn't get this offseason, Luis Castillo and Mark Loretta. Oh, he had more Win Shares then Grudzelaniek last year, too.
So, no, he is far from the long term answer, but he would make a more plausible stop gap then Aaron Miles.

Brandon Phillips??
Brandon Phillips
Who knows whether he'd show some maturity in the business-like Cardinals clubhouse.
I'm still hoping Spivey turns things around sometime in the next month or so, though.
Graf ?
Why is everybody down on miles
that's not GREAT, but I think it fits the definition of "stop gap" pretty well.
I'd be more inclined to spend our precious few prospects on more of an impact player in left field. 2B has always just been a placeholder for us anyway.

re: career numbers
i think thats a bit optimistic considering those career numbers are aided by a certain home park that is just a tad friendly to hitters. career road numbers are .255/.284/.337.

I was more annoyed with the 2004 Red Sox crap
yeah, my apologies
i wouldn't take their filthy money man
I know it's nothing you can control
The best way to deal with an annoying ad..
And I'm guessing that ad won't generate any sales from VEB regulars.
