The New Busch Stadium

I have recently become frustrated with the attitudes toward our new stadium. It seems the the local talk surrounding it consist only of "It must be a hitter's park, Albert hit 3 HRs." "The old Busch stadium had(insert whatever you want)."
I even spoke with a guy that said "I'm not impressed in the least!"

I have had the pleasure of attending the Minor League Opener, the Open House, and the Home Opener. Everytime I have gone I have been proud of the facility representing our home town team.

The Cardinal Organization avoided adding the cheap gimmicks that seem to be popular in new stadiums (i.e a hill in center field), as well as , keeping the deminsions fair.

The new Busch is NOT the old one. I miss the the giant scoreboard and the arches around the brim, but change is inevitable. It is fun to go to a game and feel like a kid attending his first MLB game. Walking around and hollering out "Hey, look at that." everyone once and awhile.

It is important to enjoy your memories of the old stadium, but is also important to let yourself make memories in the new one.

As far as is it a hitter's or pitcher's park? Homeruns have increased across the entire league(by 20% last I heard). Our starting pitchers have the third best ERA in baseball. I think the verdict is......It is a fair park, and the Cardinals have a very good starting staff.

Take the time to stand at the area behind homeplate looking out at the Old Courthouse and the Gateway Arch, and then tell me if you can seriously say..."I'm not impressed in the least."

New Busch Stadium
I live in Northern CA, and am a West Coast RedBird fan. I have been following them since 1998 (thank you Mark McGwire and Dr. Robert Cottrell) and my husband has been a diehard fan since June 15, 1966, when he attended his first major league game and saw Bob Gibson get his 100th win.  We will be at Busch the first weekend in June and are counting the days.  The stadium looks to be a fantastic place to see a game (with the arch in the background...)
It will be a treat to see a game and not be in the red wearing minority (it really pisses Giants fans off when we wear our Redbird gear at games in SF!)

i love the stadium,
I just don't like the corporate boxes full of business execs on their blackberries that think booing is just part of the game.

Where did all this class warfare stuff come from?
If they're in their boxes on their blackberries, they're not going to be booing, are they?

I sat in Section 232 on Opening Day, and 231 on Saturday and Sunday, and most of the booing I heard came from the drunks behind me and from the bleachers.

new busch
it's easy to look back at "the glory days" and only remember the positives. i loved busch ii and initially was upset about all the changes the organization was making (new stadium, the ktrs fiasco, letting morris, grudz, sanders walk) but the reality is that the stadium was largely a non-descript, heat-trapping concrete bowl.

My only problem with the new Busch
I was there for the first open house session.  I was jacked to learn I could sit in the stadium and watch the Cardinals/Cubs on the jumbotron.  Just like any game, I ate an overpriced hotdog and drank about a dozen overpriced beers and suddenly, at about the seventh inning they kicked us out.

I think in the law they call that detrimental reliance (or maybe it was the old bait and switch) either way I thought it was pretty low to invite someone in, and then without warning pull the rug out from under them.

Other than that the place is kick ass.
