It struck me tonight that after all the moaning and whining and booing and grumbling and pouting and sulking that Cardinal Nation has done these first two weeks - myself included-, here the Cardinals stand in the midst of a three-game win streak and with a solid 8-5 mark.
If you take that clip over a full 162 game schedule, it turns out to 99.7 wins. Round that up and we are looking at a third-straight 100 win season.
Is that possible? Afterall, these first two weeks have sure seemed like STL was headed for a fourth place, .500 season with everything that has gone wrong. The bullpen, Lemoncion, Edmonds,..shoot, basically everything except Pujols/Rolen, the starting rotation and Adam Wainwright.
But here we are, on pace for 100 win in spite of it all. It can't even be argued that we've feasted on a weak schedule, because until this Pittsburgh series, every game has been against a serious playoff contender.
So maybe, just maybe the 2006 Cardinals will be just fine??? Afterall, Izzy looked pretty good tonight, Encarnacion is up to .240 and Spivey/Bigbie are on their way. And maybe, yes definitely, the boobirds need to fly away.
