If we fans think this is crazy we have ourselves to blame. As long as MLB is generating record profits contracts like this will be common.

If Meche can get 5yr/$55 million from the Royals. But I bet the Cubs would counter-offer a 8yr/$178 Million contract and a no trade-clause.
