Some love for Soup. My rant.

Stay connected for news and updates

I just read a post from a guy who wrote, "Suppan Sucks," and it got me thinking.

Now I'm relatively new to this site.  But...please, hear me out:

Can someone on this site please look beyond the numbers for your arguments?

I enjoy the sabermetrics discussions as much as the next guy, but spitting out all of these numbers just proves that you're a bigger baseball dork than the next guy.

Suppan sucks?  Seriously?  You post this on a Cardinal blog site  And you try to back it up with STATS, STATS, AND MORE STATS.

Here are the statistics that I will remember about Jeff Suppan as a StL Cardinal:

  1. ZERO stints on the disabled list.
  2. 191 innings pitched per year.
  3. 1 2006 NLCS MVP trophy
  4. 1 NLCS game 7 win over Roger Clemens.
  5. 1 World Series Championship ring.
It is still the year 2006, people.  I'm amazed by how fickle sports fans can be.

He may not be worth >$10 million per year, but he most definitely does not suck.

Seriously.  Are we WATCHING the same game?   Look beyond the numbers.  It's much more fun that way.
