Bring Back Luna?

Is it a possibility that the Cardinals could re-acquire Hector Luna via-trade? The Indians apparently just traded for Josh Barfield, and they already have Peralta at SS, plus Joe Inglett on the bench. It seems like the Indians would consider him expendable, and I wouldn't think we'd have to give up much

I always liked Luna, he's a good player with a lot of utility. And it seems to me that Luna/Miles at 2B would be a cheap, effective alternative to paying an aging free agent a ton.

Is this a reasonable possibility? Would it be worth bothering with?

Luna
I like Luna and would welcome him back.  A platoon would be fine unless Luna proved that he could win the job outright.  I've always liked his offensive abilities plus he adds some much needed speed to the team.  He'd also save some $ that could be used for pitching.

No need to trade for him
He'll probably end up getting cut or designated to Buffalo and we could get him back for nothing if it looks like he'd improve the team.

apparently
2 teams have seen something in luna they don't like. he's probably a utility man, nothing more.

luna as utility man
I think Luna is a valuable utility guy / spot starter to the cards.  Here is what we are potentially looking at for a bench in 2007: J. Rodriguez, Skip Sho, Miles, backup catcher, and ???? (I'm in the camp that says So T. stays in Japan by his choice).  We need a right handed bat on the bench with some pop.  Hector doesn't have P. Wilson power but he has a career 400 slugging %.  Not bad for a league minimum utility guy who also steals bases.  I'd love to have Spezzio back but suspect he'll be too costly for our bench.  Luna is worth looking at depending on what it costs us to get him back from Cleveland.

I'm a Luna Advocate
If it's reasonable and cheap to bring him back, it seems like a smart move to me.

His career line is .276/.330/.397, he plays a decent second base, but you can play him almost anywhere, and he costs almost nothing.

No thanks
I was just never in Luna's camp. I think he's better off elsewhere. Makes for good banter, though.

Lunes
I wouldnt mind bringing him back, but only if he was uber-cheap. I think he would be a valuable guy off of the bench, but I dont think hes any real improvement over Aaron Miles.

Always wondered what wouldve happened if we ever gave him a fulltime starting role. Always kindafelt bad for the guy, always had a real shot at 2B or even SS, but we always brought in vets (Grudz, Eckstein, Miles)

Luna
It sounds like this is not an on-feild decision clubs make about Luna.

Like Luna
But he was given some opportunity, and never closed the deal. He was a valuable utility, ala Miles, but I don't know that he will ever be a starter. This season he could of and should of made second base his, and didn't.
go crazy folks..........
