apparently he's making his decision very soon, maybe tonight.

i thought the bit about the d-backs policy against incentive laden deals was interesting. i have to think this means they would have to make their contract worth as much as one with incentives might be worth total from another team in order to be competitive. that means the contract will probably guarantee him more money making it much more enticing.

He said he'd like to make his decision tonight but hes mature enough to look at all the teams and all their offers before coming to a conclusion. They also said that the D-backs have a policy against incentive contracts and dont know whether or not they will offer some kind of incentive contract whether it be for salary or for an additional year on his contract or just a regular contract. I imagine that if they offer some kind of guranteed money contract Mulder will most likely pick them considering the uncertainity of how he will pitch. He's probably staying in the NL because he can keep good on his promise to "show St Louis fans how he can really pitch", he never said that he's going to do it with the Cardinals. I wouldn't count on him being back.
