Phils Ink Adam Eaton

ESPN is reporting that Adam Eaton has signed for 3yrs and 24 mill with the Phillies. My initial thought is that the Phils may have got themselves a pretty good deal. 8 mill per doesn't sound too inflated for a guy with Eaton's potential. It is however, steep for what Eaton has done.

With Woody, Moose and Eaton coming off the board, the SP market appears to be heating up.

Eaton is a fly ball pitcher moving to one of the most hitter friendly parks in the majors. Apparently PHI didn't learn from watching what happened when Milton went to CIN and that ballpark...

Again, not a horrid signing, but I'd be surprised if Eaton plays out that deal in a Phillies uni.

How this affects STL

I'd say Weaver, Suppan, Meche will all command at least 3/24 like Eaton now. While STL can probably afford one contract like that, I doubt they get two ... Jocketty needs to pick who we want and get them locked up before this market blows up.

the cardinals. i know they're working on things i'm sure. it's just this stupid market, they're gonna have to overpay. so go overpay for the arm the want the most already before there's nothing to choose from
