reyes the titanic
VEB regular Brock20 sent me these excellent pixs of memphis redbird ace anthony reyes, who makes his next start tomorrow night in fresno. with the parent club also in southern california this weekend, i got to thinking: will we see reyes in a cardinal uni this season? a shoulder problem sidelined him in late may, but he has looked strong since his return july 4: 26 ks in 24 innings since then, with only 5 walks and 23 hits. on the season he has allowed just 76 hits in 95 innings and sports a 21-94 walk-to-k ratio.
am i the only one who'd be tempted to bring this guy up and get him eligible for the postseason? just pitch him out of the pen -- an inning here, a couple innings there. dan haren did just that last year -- came up july 27, pitched in long relief twice a week, picked up a few spot starts along the way -- and was a major asset in october. indeed, some observers thought la russa should have given him a start in the world series, supplanting either morris or marquis. when you're playing for a title, it never hurts to have a 97-mph arm in your tool kit . . . .
just a thought, and i don't feel strongly about it. here are the pixs -- and my thanks to Brock20.

I can't wait for this guy to come up for that reason alone.

Top of the World Ma!!!
Seriously, you're all welcome and hope you enjoy them. Let me know if anyone wants one emailed to them. They are in 3.2 or 3.8 mega pixel format. Most of my pictures make very nice wall paper for your computer, which is what I do. Though I did get Eckstein and Mabry each to sign one of my pictures during a field visit, so that was very cool as well. Still not as good as being on the front page!
Reyes: His arm goes through a tremendous amount of strain because he varies where he comes around and over from. Some times it seems as if he almost drops down to not quite side arm, but very, very close. Nasty, has a lot of movement. If anybody has access to minor league box scores, this game was the Sunday night before Memorial Day.
